Content:
Self-expression through making music and singing is something human beings have done since we set foot on the planet. Whether singing as we hoe the fields, in Church, at weddings, funerals, for celebration or commiseration it seems to nurture the essence of our souls. In these workshops we will use the rhythm of nature in songs, singing, music, the sea and beautiful countryside surrounding Lyme Regis to inspire us and support our creativity.

This workshop is for people who want to develop their voices, performance and musical ability. It will also increase your self-confidence, sense of personal power and self-esteem. It will include breath work, relaxation exercises, vocal training, process work, visualisation and experiential expression techniques, as well as discussion, information and lots of singing.

All styles and levels of ability are welcome. If you are a Beginner who has never sung before then you are requested to bring along either a short poem that you could read to the group or the lyrics for a 3-minute song you know a little that you could sing (nobody has to sing solo in front of the group unless they want to). If you are a more Advanced singer than you are invited to bring a 3-minute song that you know by memory, which you could perform for the group.

The workshops are led by Lorrayn de Peyer Director/Founder of THE COURAGE TO SING. Lorrayn is a seasoned singer, performer and musician with a degree in Psychology. She has and extensive experience as a workshop leader and training in the performing arts and holistic health. Lorrayn's professional experience has taken her all over the world and her credits as a singer and musician include working with leading producers, musicians and songwriters.

The workshops are held in the attractive town of Lyme Regis by the sea in Dorset where there a lots of inexpensive places to stay within walking distance of the venue; plenty of tearooms and coffee shops for refreshments and interesting craft shops and artists galleries to peruse. There are only limited places so please book early to avoid disappointment and see the Dates, Times, Directions and Investment below.

Lyme Regis is only a short taxi ride or bus journey from AXMINSTER Station which is accessible to a very good rail link to most places in the UK. Travel time by train from London Waterloo is only 2 hours 40 minutes to AXMINSTER. It is strongly recommended that people travelling long distances avoid bringing their cars wherever possible for ecological reasons and also so that you are relaxed and refreshed on arrival at the workshop. Everywhere is within walking distance of the workshop venue in Lyme Regis. Please see Tourist Information Centre details below.
